It was already dark by the time we reached our final destination of Westport, and having slept all the way past Galway and into the night, we were exhausted by the time we reached the bed and breakfast. The next day, however, Kylie and I wandered around the little town checking out which pubs had live music in the evenings, and I fell madly in love with a furry shearling vest that I somehow convinced my mother to buy for me. I was only supposed to stay for a day and then head off to Dublin, but rather than leave Kylie and this picturesque little town, I decided to stay another night, and I far prefer the memories I made sitting with my lovely friend and her generous mother (thanks for letting me tag along, y’all!) in pubs singing along to Irish folk tunes than the ones I would have made alone in a hostel in Dublin. Which is not to say my Dublin experience wasn’t good- more on that later 🙂
